Crystal Windows Upgrades All Vinyl Window Lines to Energy Star
- Demonstrates Environmental Leadership With Progressive Energy Star®Initiative -
FLUSHING, NY, February 5, 2009 - In a bold environmental move, Crystal Window & Door Systems, the award-winning national manufacturer, announced that it is upgrading the standard window offerings for all eight of its vinyl product lines to Energy Star® compliance. By making features such as soft coat Low-E glass and argon gas filling standard across the vinyl product lines, all of the companys most popular basic window models now achieve or exceed Energy Star® thermal performance levels in all national climate zones. Crystal has invested heavily in recent months to improve the various vinyl product lines and in thermal testing through an independent accredited laboratory to confirm the windows achieve Energy Star performance levels. With this major upgrade Crystal joins a very select group of major manufacturers offering Energy Star® as the standard across all vinyl window lines.
"Our Energy Star® environmental initiative will greatly enhance the energy saving performance and value our products deliver for homeowners," said Steve Chen, Executive Vice President for Crystal. "The time is right for an environmentally responsible 'green' firm like Crystal to be progressive. Almost all manufacturers offer Energy Star® options for some of their vinyl windows, but only a few manufacturers have all their standard vinyl windows Energy Star® compliant. I see Crystal as a leader in Energy Star® windows and believe homeowners, trade customers and the new construction and home improvement markets will view our actions very favorably."
The company also offers additional options for those homeowners seeking even better thermal performance. Depending on the model, options such as triple glazing, foam-filled frames, krypton/argon blends and the Performa TC special three surface Low-E glass coating system are available, delivering energy efficiency beyond Energy Star® levels. To give homeowners maximum flexibility and choice, delete options from the standard Energy Star® compliant product will also be available.
Crystal offers six existing vinyl window lines and is currently introducing two new vinyl product lines to the home improvement and new construction markets. Crystal vinyl products cover the entire window spectrum - from affordable to ultra high-end offerings - and include all styles of windows such as double-hung, slider, picture and casement.
The upgrade to an all Energy Star® vinyl window standard lineup will be implemented during February 2009. While Crystal has been an Energy Star® partner for many years, previous to this new initiative the firm offered Energy Star® qualified windows in only three of its vinyl lines and only when special options were ordered.
Energy Star® is the nationally recognized logo identifying energy efficient products. Established jointly by the U. S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, this program sets energy efficiency standards for various home and commercial appliances and building products. Appliances and products that achieve or exceed the energy performance standards are allowed to use the widely recognized Energy Star® label. Energy Star® qualified windows save homeowners energy and lower heating and air conditioning costs while improving comfort. Energy Star® windows also benefit the environment by reducing power plant air pollution and contribute towards decreasing the nation's dependence on foreign energy sources.
