Crystal Windows Supplies Clear View for Union, Missouri City Hall
-Aluminum Frame Material Extruded by Local Subsidiary-
FLUSHING, NY, February 21, 2011 - National manufacturer Crystal Window & Door Systems recently supplied over 120 energy efficient aluminum heavy-commercial replacement windows for the City Hall building in Union, MO. While final fabrication of the new windows was at Crystal?s main factory in New York City, the aluminum frame material for the products was extruded right in Union by Crystal Extrusion Systems, a subsidiary of the parent company. The windows were installed by another local Union firm, Metcalf & Sons Contracting.
I am extremely proud that material produced in Union was able to be used in Union on such a visible project, said Tom Ziegler, General Manager of Crystal Extrusion Systems. Frank Ganninger, Central West Regional Sales Manager for Crystal Windows, added, Union city officials wanted to work with local companies for this project, and Crystal?s Union plant and nearby sales distribution branch office were a natural fit. The turnaround time from order to delivery of approximately four weeks for the Union project reflects the capabilities Crystal has to supply projects no matter where they are located. While Crystal is headquartered in New York City, its national sales and distribution network and window production factory in Chicago mean the company is rapidly becoming a major window supplier to the Midwest and Central states.
The new Crystal products restored a more authentic historic look to the building by utilizing the full window openings intended for the building, which was originally constructed with wood windows. The Crystal windows replaced Union City Hall?s aging and poorly operating first generation replacement windows, which were topped with panels that reduced the opening sizes. Besides greatly improved energy efficiency and functionality, the Crystal windows feature narrow frames and more expansive glass for improved views and daylighting of the interior spaces.
The Union City Hall project called for 98 Crystal Series 5500 double-hung and 26 Series 2100 picture windows. The Series 5500 is a tilt-in, easy clean, double-hung window featuring a 3-? jamb depth, dual-glazed 1 insulating glass units and an AAMA rating of H-HC60. The Series 2100 fixed windows have 3-? jambs, dual-glazed 7/8 insulating glass units and an F-HC50 rating. Special obscured glass was used for windows in the police evidence room of Union City Hall.
All the windows were outfitted with PPG Solarban-60 low-E coated glass and argon gas for superior energy efficiency. These windows, like all Crystal aluminum windows, come standard with durable powder coat paint finishes that comply with national AAMA 2604 performance standards.
