Steve Chen promoted to Executive VP

Steve has overall responsibility for Crystal Window & Door Systems, and for its extrusion and curtain wall subsidiaries. His primary focus of sales and marketing entails providing leadership across professional consultative sales/marketing teams and experienced project managers, to insure customer relationship management (CRM) initiatives are implemented to best serve Crystal's growth initiatives. Steve also stewards continuous improvement committees, to drive new continuous improvement protocols (CIP) that have resulted in improved administrative and manufacturing efficiencies, and a more robust portfolio of products for expanding Crystal market share in local and national markets.

Steve graduated from Penn State University with a degree in economics, and has over fifteen years experience in the window and door industry, having gained critical first hand experience in business negotiations, manufacturing and distribution, by working on weekends and summers at the Crystal factory for his father, Thomas Chen, the founder of Crystal Window and Door Systems. Steve's experience in all facets of the Crystal business span manufacturing, distribution, community, and government, in preparation for his current role, overseeing the entire window and door operation. His deep understanding of project management and vertically integrated manufacturing, coupled with his familial reputation for honesty and integrity, has enabled him to continue a tradition of cornerstone partnering with many of the nations top developers.

Steve is actively involved with local and regional business and trade organizations, including the Northeast Window & Door Association (NWDA), American Institute of Architects AIA), Queens Chamber of Commerce, New York Building Congress (NBC), American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA). He continues Crystal's tradition of philanthropic support for educational and cultural institutions such as Queens Theater in the Park, Queensborough Community College Scholarship Fund, Reading programs at College Point public school, and research funding for The American Cancer Society.

Steve's 2006 appointment to the position of Executive Vice President marks the beginning of leadership transition from the founding generation, his father Thomas Chen, to the next generation. To facilitate this transition and provide additional guidance for long-term strategic growth initiatives, Crystal has engaged the services of a seasoned building products industry CEO to collaborate with Steve and the executive management team. Steve Chen is positioning Crystal for its next stage of growth, by identifying new market opportunities, and broadening the scope of the executive management team, with an ideal balance of Asian and American executives to best serve its customers in local and global markets.
