Crystal windows and doors are an important component of this major redevelopment that is transforming and revitalizing Stamford?s historic waterfront. We are therefore very excited to be part of the Harbor Point project, said Blaise Benevenga, Crystal?s New England regional sales manager.
Located at the historic former site of the Yale Lock company, the new mixed-use multi-family residential and retail property, known as The LockWorks at Yale & Towne, offers 329 new upscale apartment units in a park-like setting, as well as retail stores, a major supermarket, commercial and professional office space, and covered parking. The entire Harbor Point neighborhood redevelopment, with over 7.6 million square feet of space, is one of the largest development projects in progress in the country. The Harbor Point project has received LEED-ND Gold certification from the US Green Building Council for its sustainable design. The owner and developer is Building and Land Technology of Stamford, the architect is EDI International of New York and Houston, and the urban planning design is by Sasaki Associates of Boston and San Francisco.
In total, Crystal is supplying Series 8000 architecturally-rated aluminum windows in project-in and picture styles and Series 1240 aluminum sliding patio doors, some with accompanying transom windows. To offer expansive views and maximize daylight, most of the windows are arranged in multiple tall stacked configurations up to 10 feet high. Crystal?s aluminum windows and sliding glass doors are the perfect complement for this development, noted Benevenga. These products offer a sleek and contemporary appearance, effortless operation, advanced energy efficient design, and a beautiful durable finish that stands up the waterfront environment for years and years.
Crystal?s Series 8000 windows feature 2-? deep heavy-duty frame construction and outstanding AAMA Architectural Window (AW) ratings. The Series 1240 aluminum sliding patio doors feature a frame depth of 4-?. Both products offer 1 insulating glass units with Solarban 60 low-E coating for added energy efficiency, and high performance contemporary-styled hardware for ease of operation. For safety, the projected windows feature 4 sash limit stops. Optional face flange frames facilitate quick and easy installation of the windows.
To achieve the special architectural design called for, the aluminum window and door frames are finished in special Hartford Green and simulated Anodized Silver powder coat paint meeting AAMA 2604 durability and performance standards. Powder coat paint finish is the environmentally sustainable green alternative to liquid paint finishes, eliminating VOCs and minimizing waste, greatly reducing the impact on our planet.
Our success with The LockWorks at Yale & Towne has led to Crystal being considered for coming phases of this major prestigious development project, noted Steve Chen, Crystal?s Executive Vice President. We look forward to being involved with many aspects of Harbor Point.
